I went on Google to look up more about this Yahoo buying Tumblr nonsense, and one of the comments on the article said this.

Right so im walking home and I see this guy rolling a cigarette under a streetlamp and when he clicked his lighter THE FUCKING STREETLIGHT WENT OUT
I stopped in my tracks and stared at this guy who looks up at me then to his lighter and hes as surprised as me then he takes his thumb off the trigger and THE STREETLIGHT TURNS BACK ON

Hey gostbung, though you can’t tell it from the two pages of the comic here, that’s actually what the story is about. In fact, the first story arc is called “Save Yourself”. So, if that’s your thing, maybe worth a second look!
Oh sweet fucking shit, people need to actually read the damn book before flying off the handle. I know that actually requires work and it’s much easier to just judge something based on a glimpse, but you might actually understand more about what you’re complaining about and you might even *gasp* like it.
This character is mad on this page? Well, then she must be an ignorant PMS hysterical brat! Because strong women never get mad! Adrienne actually acts like a human being with flaws and emotions and if you actually read Princeless, it’s obvious that she’s not an unsympathetic bitch, but an actual teenager who, like, omg has the audacity to get mad. But I gues she must be PMSing rawwrg (I thought tumblr was supposed to be all radfem to the point of ridiculousness, why are we using PMS to describe a female character?).
The whole premise of the comic is that it’s a play on the fairy tale trope of the helpless [white, blonde, blue-eyed] princess waiting in a tower for her dashing prince to come save her. She’s mad because she’s sick of waiting to be rescued. And, yes, historically “fair” has been used to describe white skin and most of the Grimm/Hans Christian Andersen stories use fair to describe the white princesses. It’s an obvious reference to that.
The rest of the comic actually does a pretty good job of deconstructing both gender and racial stereotypes in children’s fiction, which is the kind of thing tumblr is always squawking about. It’s also not just “look at me I’m a female PoC” it’s about an actual character that does shit like struggle with her identity and who she wants to be. But that’s totally unrelatable or unsympathetic, amiright?
This whole thing is just ridiculous. If someone who has actually read the comic wants to criticize it, that’s one thing. Assuming you know everything about a work of fiction based on one page? That’s stupid and more ignorant and hysterical than Princeless allegedly is.
